How To Dog Proof A Laundry Room
What is it with dogs and dirty laundry? They like to lay on it, roll in it, chew it, drag it around, and simply make a mess of it. Although this entertainment is fun, and relatively safe- its better to be safe than sorry. Some dyes in fabrics are harmful to dogs, and we dont want any sick pups! So keeping a pet-safe laundry room is ideal when owning and indoor pup. Here are a few ways to make sure your little furball always stays safe.

Close the laundry room door: If you have a laundry room with a door- keep it closed most of the time. This makes sure your pup doesnt have access to any bad chemical cleaning products. It will also ensure they dont make a disaster of your dirty and clean clothes.
Have a hamper with a lid: If you dont have a laundry room with a door- keep a hamper with a lid. A lid is a quick, easy, and efficient deterrent for dogs. Granted, theyll scratch and paw a little (maybe even chew)- but the lid is way safer of a toy than the clothes are. Keep both your shirts and dog safe by simply putting the lid on after you throw your clothes into the hamper.
Keep cleaning agents up high: This is by far one of the most important tips. Dogs are just like kids- they dont know whats bad for them. That spilled detergent on the floor looks a lot like gravy to a naive dog- and ingesting such a thing could have fatal results. Prevent these sorts of things from happening by keeping ALL cleaning products up high (this includes dryer sheets and stain remover sticks. Anything can be a chew toy for your pup- and those sorts of things could prove very harmful).
Close dryer/washer doors: A dryer or front-open washer look like mighty comfortable resting places to a dog- especially when they have comfy clothes inside! But for obvious reasons they are absolutely not safe places for them. Keep your washer and dryer doors closed to deter your pup from going inside.
