I am a person who loves to have guests over and who always wants to have the place looking fantastic. While I usually always have the aesthetics down, it is the smell that sometimes gets away from me. You see, I have a rather large dog. He loves being outside and, like any dog, has issues with odor. The first thing for me is cleaning. This goes hand in hand with keeping the place presentable, so it is no big chore. I make sure to vacuum frequently and keep the dogs areas clean as often as possible. Just like my own bedding, there needs to be changing and cleaning going on here. It makes it more comfortable for him and it makes the place smell better in general. It is easy to do and it makes us all happier.
I also attack the odor in the air. Using candles and incense does this quite well for the beginning, depending on the brand and scent, but they are really only good for masking that annoying odor. Sometimes, they may even worsen the problem if the scent mixes with the dog smell or if the scent is not pleasant. Usually, baking soda is the way to go. It absorbs the smell and I can sprinkle it on almost anything. It is a great little tool that helps all around the house.
